Frequently Asked Questions
Q1 - I've been to Ames UMC, and you only have two
hoops in a single gym. How do you expect to accomodate all the
students?
A1 - We have 6 additional portable basketball hoops set up in the
parking lot.
Q2 - What if weather is bad? Then what do you
do with the students?
A2 - If it's just a light rain or wind,
we'll play. If the rain is heavy or if there is any
lightning or thunder, we will try our best to use our single
court along with our community room for basketball
drills.
Q3 - How is the camp free to the students?
A3 - Well, Ames UMC is partnering with Family
Youth Innitiative in making this possible. Together, these
two organizations are covering the costs. Furthermore, Ames
has sought out a few other sponsors in much the same way we did
during the first 4 years of the camp.
Q4 - Can students just come for a few of the days
and not the entire camp?
A4 - Yes.
Q5 - Can students show up late and leave early?
A5 - This
is frowned upon, but will be permitted. Leaving early will
require permission from a parent or legal guardian. If you
leave early without parental consent, you will not be allowed to attend
any further camp sessions and will be disqualified from
any of the awards competitions. Furthermore, the registration table
is not left available for the entirety of each event. In other
words, don't be too late or you won't get in.
Q6 - I know some students who would like to attend,
but they need a ride.
A6 - Notify camp director, Jesse Karls, at jesse.karls@gmail.com
Q7 - I would like to help volunteer at the
camp. What should I do?
A7 - Again, please contact camp director, Jesse
Karls, at jesse.karls@gmail.com
